Barney

2007 - 2024

My Barney was in a shelter when I saw him online. When I met him he put his front feet on my knees and I knew I was chosen. That was in 2010, he was 3. Little did I know that he was heartworm+, fleas, worms and ear mites. I have always called him my million dollar dog. After he was healthy, I found out that he didn't need an invitation to any activity as he was always in The middle of any activity going on.
He was so observant that I still laugh at his insistence to have 2 milkbones as my older dog, who was 3x his size got, when treats were handed out. after we had to say Goodbye to Jake. Barney took the position very seriously. He took the one Milk bone then came back for the second one as his new position of "top dog" indicated!
In his life he had insect bites and stings, an almost snake bite, pancreatitis, cataract surgery and then cancer.
Barney was 17.5 and even insisted that he go to the dog park with us the morning of that hard hard day we had to part ways.
To know Barney was to love him from his soft fur to his hilarious way of bossing the other dogs around to give him the spot he wanted to lay down.
